Emirates Wildlife Society (EWS) is a UAE environmental non-governmental organization, established under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s representative in the Western Region and Chairman of Environmental Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD).
EWS works in association with WWF, one of the world’s largest and most respected independent conservation organizations. EWS-WWF has been active in the UAE since 2001 and has successfully initiated and implemented several conservation and education projects and initiatives in the region.
EWS-WWF works federally and in the region with offices in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Fujairah and is governed by a local board of directors.

Job summary

The Marketing Communication Officer is responsible for leading and supporting the copywriting requirements (including proposal writing, blogs..etc), Press Releases (PR) and communications and media support related to recruitment of new donors, partners and the launching of new campaigns, events and marketing engagement programmes led by the business development unit.
The Marketing Communication Officer will work closely with all the business development team members including the marketing and event staff and liaise strongly with the communications team including the Communications and Education Director.
The successful candidate will have a formal education in written English and experience with editing content for print, digital and mobile audiences. The role requires meticulous content creation, editing and proofreading in a fast-paced, high-performance environment. The ability to read, write and understand Arabic language is a bonus.

Key Responsibilities Key Performance Indicators

1. Strategy


Provide strategic plans in line with the organisatioan’s communication and business development strategy on an annual basis.

  • The annual strategic communication plan should be provided one month after joining and each November from second year onwards.

2. Writing 


2.1  Provide editorial writing and creative copywriting to the business development (BD) team.

  • 50-60 proposals a month. 

  • Programme reports as required.

2.2 Provide support to the BD team related to external  communications.

  • Focus 50 letter - Ongoing.

  • Proposal Covering letters - As required.

  • Other communication as required.

2.2 Provide assistance to the marketing team.

  • One blog a month.

  • On event/engagement a month.

  • One news letter a month.

  • Other communications as required.

3. Media and PR


3.1  Lead the PR and media communications related to new donor recruitment. 

  • Ongoing.

3.2 Lead the PR and media communications related to event and partners engagement programmes.

  • 12+ engagement programme/event a year.

3.3 Provide media and communication support for campaigns such as Re-think Plastic and other fundraising campaigns run by the BD & Marketing units.

  • Ongoing.

4. Content Creation


4.1 Provide creative content (in collaboration with the marketing team) including landing pages, ads ...etc.

  • Create headlines, taglines and campaign themes - As required.

  • Edit/adapt copy to suit a variety of media platforms and audiences as required - As required.                                          

5. Organisational Support

  • Represent the organisation positively in public at all times by acting as a professional representative and ambassador.

  • Ongoing -  delivering high quality standards that support the mission and goals of the organization across all programmes and units.

6.  Administration

  • Follow all  administrative systems such as Salesforce, Hubspot ..etc and procedures, including invoice processes, submitting expense reimbursements, M&E reports, and so on by the deadlines assigned, as well as submitting content for the organizational calendar and informing other staff of activities and whereabouts
  • Participate actively in weekly team workshops and monthly team meetings and other meetings when requested.
  • Plan and report on personal performance indicators in support of the line manager.
  • Any other duties as required by workload or as requested by the line manager.
  • Ongoing -  producing high quality work that supports the organisations M&E goals
Required qualifications
  • 3+ Years in relevant PR/Communication and Marketing industry experience – preferably developing and coordinating marketing or communications content.
  • Knowledge of handling and organising media campaigns is essential.
  • Knowledge of inbound marketing tools is an added bonus.
  • Working experience in marketing communications with nonprofits and NGOs is an advantage.
  • Fluency in English is essential, knowledge of Arabic is an added bonus.
  • Interest in all aspects of the environment, wildlife, terrestrials, green energy and other topics that are undertaken by EWS-WWF is essential. 
  • Bachelor Degree in communications, journalism, marketing,  events and/or corporate relations management.

  • Excellent level of MS Office, XLS, PPT
  • Flexible team player willing to play interchangeable roles within the team when required.

  • UAE driver’s license and own vehicle
  • Good  presentation skills
  •  Arabic knowledge is an advantage

Internal -  Liaise with Communications, Business Development, Conservation and Operations teams
